Luke’s Isagenix Challenge: Update
So it's been a while since my last post, but I thought I would update on how things are going. I have been continuing to use the Isagenix products as I mentioned in my last post. This means, Ionix shot and tablet in the morning, protein shake after my run, MRS mid morning, lunch, MRS mid afternoon and dinner. With a second protein shake after lifting weights at some point during the day. In addition to this, I have been told to add a scoop of cleanse powder with my MRS's. This is a powder form of the cleanse drink I did in the 2, 2 day blocks over the first 14 day period. This is ...

FITS in the field: Canadian Alpine Nationals day: 8
Today was the final day of competition, with men's and women's slalom, plus the provincial dual slalom race in the evening at Calgary Olympic Park. The course was set on the same course as the downhill, and so after 7 days of competition and practice on this hill, the snow was very hard and "grooved". The temperature was also pretty cold today, especially when you stand at the start doing a whole lot of not much like I was. The guys ran first and unfortunately, after looking forward to slalom all week, Dylan went out early in the course, he was joined by Tommy Grand, who was having a very good run early on but couldn't keep ...
FITS in the field: Canadian Alpine Nationals Day: 7
Day 7 was an off day for the guys and GS for the girls. After the length of the boys run, the girls were a little nervous about how physically difficult today might be. Thankfully for them, the course was shortened, and although still long, a little more managable. Unfortunately, compared to the boys, mother nature wasn't smiling, with the blue skies of yesterday disappearing, and the snow softening considerably. This made for plenty of DNF's and mistakes during the run from all level of skier. As expected the event was dominated by the national team skiers including Britt Janyk and Marie-Michelle Gagnon. The girls did their best but missed the podium today in both the senior ...
FAKTR-PM
I had a great weekend attending the FAKTR-PM course by Dr. Gregory Doerr and Andre Labbe at FITS. I got to see several colleges that I haven't seen in a while, and I met some great health care practitioners from around Toronto and abroad. The presenters were amazing providing a fantastic approach to treat musculoskeletal injuries. I applaud them for the tremendous approach, their willingness to share, and the work around the world to educate health care professionals. Great job!! I can't recommend this course highly enough. I know that it has rejuvenated my clinical mind and I'm very excited to integrate their approach into my practice. Thank-you! If you're a health care professional you need visit ...
FITS in the field: Canadian Alpine Nationals day: 6
Today the girls had the day off for some R & R, while the boys had Giant Slalom. The boys were generally excited about this race, although some of that excitement was scupered when they saw that the course setter had taken the "giant" part of GS, very seriously. This monster GS course took around 1 minute 20 seconds to complete and all the boys came back to the lodge after run 1 pretty tired, I even heard the top national team skiers saying how tired they were. The main reason for this is that (as the boys described it to me) doing the GS is like doing squats at 80% of your max for 1 minute 20, and not ...

FITS in the field: Canadian Alpine nationals day:5
Today was Super combined for the boys and Super G for the girls. Once again the weather was perfect and the conditions excellent for racing. The girls were up first in the Super G, and did pretty well, the course was similar to yesterday so we were hoping for some good results. Everyone did pretty well, but the best of the day was Brenley Nella who finished 3rd in the junior women's and 9th overall behind Olympian Emily Brydon. In the guys, everyone was a bit nervous with the Super G section of the combined event, given that all 6 of them failed to finish yesterday. But, the boys stepped up and 4/6 made it down ...
Luke’s Isagenix Challenge: Day 16
So, after discussion with Coach Alan, it has been decided that my challenge will continue until the end of March, so that I can get full benefits of the cleanse I just put myself through, and so my performance will get the full benefit of the Isagenix program. In response to my thoughts mentioned in the last post: The general consensus was that I probably did push myself a little catabolic and this may account for me not losing as much fat as hoped, and losing muscle instead of gaining it. It also turns out that I wasnt supposed to work out on cleanse days (which I didnt know and I think could have been better communicated ...
