Helen Upperton wins silver in bobsleigh!!

WOW. I can't describe how much pride I have in our Olympic Bobsled women's team. In particular Helen Upperton, who made the transition from Track and Field (triple jump) to Bobsleigh. Professionally I met Helen Upperton at the start of her Bobsleigh career, after her track career (University of Texas) was cut short because of injury. Her introduction into the world of Bobsleigh, came because of an invititation by Mark Hindle (the development coordinator of Bobsleigh Canada). She was amongst 20 or so athletes that were invited based on their athleticism. Who knew an invitation into a program would produce an Olympic medal. After a great rookie year atSt. Bonaventure; winning A10 Rookie of the year honours, A-10 All-Conference second team, All-Defensive team, and named to the CollegeHoopsNet.com Freshman All-American team, Andrew is having even a bigger sophmore season (click here), averaging 16.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, and an outstanding 2 blocks per game.   FITS is proud to announce that Jevohn has signed and is contributing significantly to NBA-D League Halifax Rainmen. After a gruelling summer of patellar tendinopathy, which was managed with strengthening a weakened hamstring at FITS, we are excited to see him playing well. This upcoming summer should be very interesting as he develops, after a college career at Michigan University. Stay tuned, he will surprise many. CANADA Qualifies for the FIBA 2010 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

FITS Toronto is proud to congratulate the Canada's National Cadet U16 Team on wining bronze against Venezuela at the FIBA Americas U16 Championship,106 - 81. As a result Canada qualifies for the first ever 2010 U17 World Championship. Several players are apart of the Performance Enhancing Program that Dr. Lam is involved with - Kevin Pangos, (Holland Landing, Ont), Johnathan Alexander-Guillaume (Toronto), Duane Notice (Vaughan, Ont.), Nick Lewis (Scarborough), Nik Stuskas (Mississauga, Ont.) Negus Webster-Chan (Toronto). In preparation for the up coming World Championship, plans are underway to give these athletes the best opportunity for success. Congratulations Junior Canadiens

Congratulations goes out to Dr. Cubos and the Toronto Jr. Canadiens Major Bantam AAA Hockey Club for their exceptional effort and performance this past weekend at the Nike Bauer Invite tournament in Chicago, IL. Out of 48 teams in North America, the Jr. Canadiens successfully made it to the semifinals on Sunday afternoon. A special congratulations goes out to forward Reid Jackman (#13) and defenseman Daniel Poutsoungas (#14) who train regularly at FITS.
