Testing is purposeful evaluation of key qualities to reduce injury and to evaluate athletic factors that contribute to sport performance.
The main principles of testing are:
- Establish baseline and to evaluate progress. Gather data consistently over time to evaluate athletic strategies (rest and recovery, training, nutrition, etc.) to improve performance and reduce injuries.
- To compare and identify relative strengths and weaknesses. Compare results between athletes at similar and different ages, and competition levels to give them an indication of their strength, weaknesses, and relative athleticism or fitness.
