The constantly updating FITS HOCKEY TRIAD Injury Prevention Infographic aims to help coaches, parents and the hockey community STOP Hockey’s Silent Killer– femoroacetabular impingement. Over 90% of elite hockey players will develop structural changes that often become symptomatic (20+ percent) and commonly requir esurgery (50% of NHL hockey players that become symptomatic). Symptoms occur in three distinct areas – the low back, hip and soft tissues around the groin (hipflexor, hip adductor, and lower abdominals). The origins or cause of our symptoms are deeply related to how we control our body. The excited news is theses ymptoms can be prevented by developing key motor control qualities.
